Who We Are
Our Story
Farming and mechanics go back several generations in James’ family. One of his grandfathers moved to Aldergrove in the 1940’s and began a dairy farm which is still in the family today. The other was an auto mechanic in Chilliwack.
His father continued the farming heritage on 18 acres in Mt. Lehman where James grew up…
In 2010 James and Jodi moved to their small farm in Agassiz, seeing it as an ideal place to raise their growing family. Over the years as the children grew, they expanded their operations to include selling produce, pork, eggs, and hay.
With 25 years of experience as a machinist/millwright, and 7 growing boys, James saw the opportunity to combine our love of farming and mechanical abilities. In 2021, we refitted our garage and greenhouse, and Mountain View Machine was born.
Our Goal:
Our desire is to to use the abilities God has given us to provide quality repairs and services to meet the needs of local farmers.
What we cannot fix:
At MVM, our goal is to help you with your farm repair needs. But there is something in your life that is far more important than a broken machine, and that is your broken relationship with God. The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin is disobedience to the commands of the Bible. Examples of sin include lying, stealing, dishonouring our parents or the government, committing adultery, using God’s name as a cuss word, loving ourselves more than honouring God, getting angry, etc. Anyone who is willing to honestly evaluate himself will agree that he is guilty. Because God is holy, our sin has separated us from God; our relationship with Him is broken. Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death…” Romans 1:18 tells us that “…the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men” As a result of our sin, we are going to die and we are under God’s wrath; the consequence of this is eternal punishment in hell. However comfortable your life here might be, it won’t do you any good the minute you die and stand before God for judgement. Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”(Mk 8:36).
The Bible does not stop with the message of sin, death, and God’s judgement; it tells how we can be saved from our sin and its consequences. Romans 5:8-9 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” Jesus Christ took the punishment that we deserve for our sins when He died on the cross. He rose from the dead after three days, and now he offers the gift of justification from sin and salvation from wrath to all who are willing to humbly acknowledge their sin and repent of it, believing on Christ alone to save them. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. Acts 20:21 describes salvation as “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” To repent means to acknowledge your sin before God with humility and willingness to submit to Him. Faith in Jesus Christ means to trust Him alone for salvation.
Good works have no part in salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Salvation is 100% of Jesus Christ. Would you consider yourself to be a good person? In Romans 10:3 we read the description of a people who “being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.” Isaiah 64:6 teaches us that in God’s sight, “…we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…”. We must realize that God is infinitely holy and righteous, and there is nothing that we can do to approach near to His standard. To attempt to be righteous in ourselves is futile, and amounts to pride in God’s sight which is really just another sin.
In the busyness of life, it is easy to forget that one day, we are all going to die and leave everything here behind. Where will you be then? There is nothing more important in this life than knowing that your sins are forgiven. We would encourage you to take the time to think seriously about your life and most importantly, your relationship with God.
